Racing Recap March 26-27, 2011

Rainy conditions and cold temperatures proved to be the perfect conditions for Las Vegas’ FlyNAces to set a new team record at Stampede’s March 26-27 tournament, held in Hurricane, UT.
After a slow morning of racing followed by a lunch of chicken strips from the roach coach, FNA’s Hearts team stepped into the lane against Touch N Go’s D Team, where Magic, Devon, Widget and Haley would sweep three out of three races, setting a new team record of 16.568. Cheers and barks of excitement echoed inside the Washington Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall.

“We’re finally racing the same the same line-up consistently,” noted team captain Ann Salisbury. “It’s a huge difference, though their passes weren’t even the best we’ve seen from them, to be honest.”

“Haley was actually slow today, but Devon really stepped it up,” added Colin Bruce, Haley’s dad.

Devon, a five-year old McNab, ran his own personal best earlier in the day at 3.919.

“Devon’s been on fire all day,” exclaimed David, the dog’s dad. “He’s a three-nine dog for sure, these days!”

Magic, Devon’s brother, also ran on the team. Both dogs hydrated with Powerboost and some team members think that made the difference.

“The dogs can really recover faster with excellent hydration,” posited Team Engineer Keith.

Despite the fact that the team was critical of its own passes, the dogs really cranked it up.

“I think the real reason we were faster is that I wore long pants,” offered David.

With this new record, the team is poised for success at their own May Need 4 Speed Tournament II, which benefits the Greg Biffle Foundation.

“It’ll be hard to top this at our own tournament, but it’s nice to enter the 2011 flyball season with this new standard set,” concluded Salisbury.

Later in the day, Magic tore his dewclaw. Though a vet saved the day, he could not save the dewclaw. Magic was sedated during its removal, so a photo op of the record-setting line-up was postponed.

In other team news, rookie Seven ran the fastest time in Singles.

Dodge, who pretends to not like flyball, ran on a team for the first time and was all smiles.
